Magnolia Students Participate in STEM Activity

On Saturday September 28th, approximately 140 students from the Magnolia School District attended a free STEM event held at the Muzeo in Anaheim. The event was put on by Andrew Needles, the CEO of Clarkson Technologies. Younger students had fun learning about polarity in batteries as they raced toy cars using magnets to propel them.

Anaheim Rotary Donates Backpacks Filled with School Supplies

Thanks to the generosity of the Anaheim Rotary Club, 308 Magnolia students will receive brand new backpacks filled with plenty of school supplies. Rotary members and Magnolia staff members delivered the backpacks to the District on Thursday, August 28th and several students and families were present to receive their backpacks. The remaining backpacks will be delivered to students across the District.

Six Magnolia School District Schools Were Named 2018-19 California Honor Roll

Magnolia School District is proud to announce that Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Dr. Peter Marshall, Dr. Jonas Salk, Juliette Low School of the Arts, Robert M. Pyles STEM Academy and Walt Disney schools were named as 2018-19 California Honor Roll schools by Educational Results Partnership, a data science organization which recognizes high-performing, achievement gap-closing schools across the state.

Mobile Dairy Classroom Visits Disney School

This month, the Mobile Dairy Classroom had an exciting visit at Walt Disney School! The mobile classroom is a program from the Dairy Council of California. Mr. Steven Miller, the mobile classroom instructor introduced the students to Miss Agnes, a 1,700 pound Holstein dairy cow. He provided an opportunity for students to learn new vocabulary, the anatomy of a dairy cow and how the milk goes from the dairy cow to the home refrigerator.

Walt Disney Elementary Girls Collaborate in STEM Program

Fifty fifth-grade girls from Walt Disney Elementary School were invited to participate in the “Snap the Gap” kickoff event at the Disneyland Grand Californian Hotel. This event was made possible through a partnership between the Magnolia School District and the Disney Resort. Snap the Gap’s mission is to instill every girl (aged 10-12) in the United States with the confidence and skills needed to pursue STEM in college and careers. Currently, there are many more men than women in STEM careers. Snap the Gap aims to close this gender gap.

25th Annual Dental Clinic and Community Health Fair

Saturday, February 23, 2019 marked the 25th anniversary of the Magnolia School District Dental Clinic and Community Health Fair. Dr. Jonas Salk Elementary School MPR was transformed into a Dentist’s office and the courtyard was turned into a community health fair. Students and their families from all across the district were invited to attend.

Students Participate in Annual Spelling Bee

The 2019 Magnolia School District Spelling Bee was a memorable one! The rain may have delayed the Bee, but it certainly did not stop it. The two top spellers from each of our 9 schools participated in the very intense competition. Students successfully spelled words such as extravaganza, gregarious, capricious and cauliflower.
